November 13 is the 160th birthday of Robert Louis Stevenson. He lived from 13 November 1850 until 3 December 1894 and was writer from Scotland. Treasure Island is my favorite book written by Stevenson. Another book by him which is very well known is the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

When Robert Louis Stevenson started to write when he was a kid and when he was sixteen years old, his first novel, The Pentland Rising: a Page of History was published.

Treasure Island was published in 1883 and it was Stevenson’s first major success. It is a tale of piracy, buried treasure, and adventure. The book has been filmed several times. He originally entitled it The Sea Cook but an editor changed it.

Stevenson was married, but without own children. He traveled frequently and wrote stories about his adventures. He spend the last four years of his live on Upolu, one of the Samoan islands.

Google celebrates his birthday by giving him a Doodle, inspired by Treasure Island.
